Their primary role is to improve health outcomes by providing education, advocacy and direct support to individuals , especially those in underserved or high-risk populations.

Key Responsibilities of CHWs

  • Health Education & Promotion: Educating individuals on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and medical conditions to improve overall well-being.
  • Advocacy & Outreach: Helping community members access healthcare, social services, and other resources.
  • Care Coordination: Assisting individuals with scheduling medical appointments medication adherence, and follow-up care.
  • Cultural Mediation: Acting as a liaison between healthcare providers and community members to ensure culturally competent care.

Medical Career Academy

Our Classroom Experience

This 15 week program meets only one day a week from 930am to 130pm.  Class is online only.  The lecture will be conducted via zoom (with a live instructor) and class work will be done on google classroom. Student are expected to participate during class (video on) and be in a learning environment during lectures (quiet place with no distractions).  Students will need a smartphone, tablet or laptop to utilize zoom.
